Spirit of St. Louis
If you haven't been to St. Louis
and someday you do, you'll find it enchanting as a good ghost story, beautifully sturdy, petite as Napoleon's children. Filled with good stories over full glasses in a flower laden beer garden. Flagrantly and delightfully herbaceous. Sensuously disheveled, as if, head in hand, recalling mornings following evenings worth remembering.
When I return to Florida beaches
I'll remember the whole blocks
of beautiful sycamores
mauve pigeons underneath
Shade lined blocks of home after home
made with care and craft,
an eye for beauty,
fragrant with mimosa trees
and a whiff of roasting hops.
This is not even a fraction, nor an example, of the stately or most beautiful architecture St.Louis is filled with. It is simply spots along my routes this week.
